Mánagata 5 - The made-up bed section

Gamla guesthouse has 8 bright twin bedded rooms as well as 1 triple bedded room on two floors accommodating up to 19 guests. The house is in Icelandic terms rather old, dating back to 1896. Back then, it was built as a hospital, later served as a pension home, but was rebuilt entirely to fit it as a guesthouse.

All rooms have hand basin and bathrobes as well as television and complimentary wireless internet connection.

We have good facilities for disabled guests and one room specially designed for the physically challenged.

We have beds and other equipment to accommodate the young travelers. We love having them around.

On the ground floor, we have a nice little reading corner where guests can write the postcard to granny back home, plot the next hike or listen to travel stories of the other guests. Additionally, there is a computer connected to the internet, for your free use.

Good and varied breakfast is served in the breakfast room. Keep your eyes open for the Icelandic traditional Lýsi, cod liver oil that kept the Icelandic nation going through tough conditions. However, the dose is only one tablespoon, so you still will have belly-space for a sandwich or two.

Speaking of sandwiches, you can add a little extra to your breakfast fee and make your lunch right off the breakfast buffet. The lunch might never be free, is it, but it can be handy and cheap.

The guesthouse is non-smoking and is open all year round.

Mánagata 1 - The sleeping bag section

At Mánagata 1, (100 steps)we offer sleeping bag accommodation for those on a budget, or just inclined to the backpacker mindset. We have five rooms.

The house has two shared bathrooms, spotlessly clean, what else?

In the spacious living room, there is a sofa and a TV. Additionally, there are cooking facilities. It's a great place to hang out at, as there is a door opening up to a veranda that gets warm on good summer days (we are talking Icelandic-hot, though).

Breakfast is available at the guesthouse. As mentioned before, be sure to check out the Icelandic Lýsi should you decide to go for the breakfast treat.
